Nancy Lord

Nancy Lord, Alaska’s State Writer Laureate, is the author of three short story collections and four books of literary nonfiction.  Her most recent book is Rock, Water, Wild: an Alaskan Life (University of Nebraska Press, 2009.) Her work has also appeared widely in journals and magazines and has been honored with awards including a Pushcart Prize. She has an MFA in creative writing from Vermont College and has received two individual artist’s fellowships from the Alaska State Council on the Arts, a Rasmuson artist fellowship, and numerous fellowships at artists’ colonies and residency programs. She is an adjunct professor at the Kachemak Bay Campus of Kenai Peninsula College-UAA, has taught as a visiting professor in graduate writing programs, and is on the faculty of UAA's low-residency MFA writing program.
