ACADEMIC ADVISORS FOR SPECIFIC DEGREE PROGRAMS:
Testing
"Accuplacer" Testing
Accuplacer testing focuses on the basic skill
areas of reading, writing, and math. These tests are
not graded; the score is used solely to assist the
advisor in recommending appropriate courses. Admission
to a degree or certificate program requires completion
of the Accuplacer test. Students must have the Accuplacer placement
results prior to registering for mathematics, reading,
speech, and/or written composition courses or for
admission to a KPC degree. Call 235-7743 to set up
an appointment to take the Accuplacer. Accuplacer Assessment
is recommended for all students.
Testing for Distance-Delivered Courses
Some distance-delivered courses conduct testing on the class
website while others require a proctor. Beginning this spring
2008 semester, non-UAA students taking tests in distance coursers
offered by other UAA campuses will be charged a testing fee. This
will allow KPC to continue to support test proctoring services and
processing of these tests. UAA students who take these tests
will be assessed a $20 fee. Students from a non-UAA school or
university will be charged a $30 fee for up to three hours of test
proctoring services. Contact Cindy Pelaia at 235-7743 to set up
testing for your course.
PRAXIS, CLEP and other
national standardized tests
National standardized tests are given for a number
of certifications and credit for prior learning programs.
Contact Cindy Pelaia at 235-7743 for details.
