| High school seniors can get
a “Jump” on their college education
by taking college classes while still in high
school. We provide you with access to classes
not offered at high school. |
JUMP START!
allows Seniors to take up to six (6) lower level
college credits each semester of your senior
year, if prerequisite skills are met, for $35
per credit (plus the full cost of textbooks
and any other additional fees associated with
the course.

Here’s
how high school seniors register for classes
here:
- Be a senior in high school.
- Get from your high school
counselor the Jump Start application form.
Complete your part of the form with necessary
parent/guardian signatures.
- Take the form back to your
high school counselor or principal for their
signatures. (Students participating in home-school
programs, must provide documentation verifying
12th grade level status. Signature of home-school
coordinator in addition to parent would be
helpful, but not required.)
- Come to Kachemak Bay Campus/KPC
Enrollment Services during general registration
(with your completed Jump Start form) to register
for classes. Payment of courses is required
at registration; books need to be purchased
as needed.

UNDERAGE STUDENTS
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
Seniors are eligible to take up to
6 credits at KBC at the 100 and 200 level for $35
per credit under the Borough-funded “Jump Start”
program. Registration is dependent on course prerequisites
being met, as required. The AccuplacerT Placement test
may be required prior to registration for English
and math courses. Students need to complete the Jump
Start form with all the necessary signatures PRIOR
to registration and bring to KBC the form and remaining
tuition and fees in order to officially register for
the course.

15-17 YEAR-OLD STUDENTS
Students who are 15, 16, or 17 years
old, are not seniors and have not finished high school
may be eligible, if requirements are met, to register
for no more than seven credits per semester at the
100 and 200 course level. However, prior to registration,
on a course-by-course basis, instructor approval may
be required and registration may be on a space-available
basis. Prerequisites for applicable courses also need
to have been met. An Accuplacer placement test must be
taken prior to registration for math and English courses
to ensure the student has necessary prerequisite skills
to promote success.
To register, students must fully complete
and submit Underage Student Enrollment Forms Q20 and
20A, KPC course registration and pay full tuition/fees.
All signatures are required prior to the registration
being processed:
o High school counselor and teachers complete and
sign the Q20/20A forms stating the student is capable
of successfully completing college-level courses and
that any required PREREQUISITE has been met.
· If home-schooled, teacher and counselor sign
form.
o High school principal signs form.
§ If home-schooled, organization’s director
signs form.
The cost of textbooks and any applicable fees are
the responsibility of the student at the time of registration.
Students Under Age 15
A student who is under 15 years old must obtain the
approval of the KBC Director in addition to meeting
all the above-stated requirements. Approval will be
based on a variety of factors and on a case-by-case
basis.
