Property & Surplus Services
The function of the KPC Property Dept
is to account for and help safeguard all University
owned property and to comply with all applicable state,
federal and University laws and regulations. This
involves coordinating the annual physical inventory,
recording acquisitions, deletions and other changes,
and managing the disposal of surplus property.
To accomplish these goals, any relocation, off campus
use, or disposal of any University owned equipment
must be coordinated through the KPC Property Custodian.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I dispose of a property
item?
The first step is to contact the
Property Custodian who will assist you with completing
any forms that may be necessary and will help coordinate
pickup and disposal of the item. It is important
to remember that University owned equipment may
not be disposed of or relocated without prior written
consent.
What happens to disposed equipment?
If the item is non functional, the
property coordinator will request authorization
to destroy it. Upon approval, the item is crushed
and taken to the landfill. The destruction is witnessed
by at least two University employees. For efficiency,
these items are stored and destroyed in batches.
If the item is still functional, it is made available
to other University departments. If no other department
has a use for it, it is stored and eventually made
available for sale to the general public.
May I use University owned equipment
off campus?
Off campus use of property is allowed
only for completion of University related business
or projects. An Authorization For Off Campus Use
form must be completed, signed by the College Director,
and submitted to the Property Coordinator. Off campus
use is allowed for a limited time only. Items must
be returned by the date indicated on the approval
form and must be checked in through the property
coordinator upon its return. Personal use of University
property is prohibited
