The Youth Job Training Program is funded by the Workforce Investment Act to provide year round services that will assist youth and young adults in finding and keeping employment. The program provides the following free services based on the needs of each individual youth.
Basic Academic Skills provides assistance in earning a GED or completing a high school diploma. Services can include assistance with applying for GED classes, tutoring, and funding to pay for GED and tutoring costs.
Work Readiness Skills provides assistance in learning job readiness skills such as resume writing, interviewing, teamwork, customer relations, and communication skills necessary for getting and keeping a job.
Occupational Skills provides assistance with applying to job training programs and finding and keeping a job. Some on the job training opportunities are offered. Funding is available for job training programs or college courses and to assist with other job related expenses such as uniforms, glasses, driver’s license, health care, etc.
Follow Up Services are provided to all youth for one year after they complete their job training goals. These services provide continued support and job related funding for youth to maintain in post secondary education, apprenticeship, and/or employment.
Eligibility
- 16-21 years old and a legal U.S. resident
- Commitment to program for up to 2 years
- Motivated to follow through on job training goals
- Meet income requirements (most youth and young adults do)
