About KBC - KPC
The Kachemak Bay Campus of Kenai Peninsula
College - an extended campus of the University of
Alaska - is located in south central Alaska at the
southern tip on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. KBC
is 225 road miles south of Anchorage.
The Kachemak Bay Campus facilities
are located in Homer on the shores of beautiful Kachemak
Bay at the southern tip of Kenai Peninsula and serve
an area population of 14,000. The community is renowned
as a center for the arts and environmental education
as well as world famous fishing for salmon and halibut.
The campus delivers KPC’s programs
and offers a quality education in a warm, friendly
environment. The facilities include classrooms, computer
lab, learning resources center, bookstore and library
with an enrollment of about 500 credit and non-credit
students per semester. KBC prides itself on dedicated
professional faculty, small class size and personalized
attention for all students.
KPC offers two-year Associates of
Arts and Associates of Applied Science degrees, as
well as courses leading to vocational certificates
and industry certification. Some programs leading
to baccalaureate degrees can be earned at Kachemak
Bay Campus. A number of other four-year degree programs
are available through KBC courses and distance delivery
from other University of Alaska campuses. Continuing
education and professional development programs are
provided that include conferences, summer programs,
Elderhostel, workshops, classes, and a visiting writers’
series.
The college offers academic advising,
transfer information, financial aid assistance, counseling,
student success activities and free tutoring. The
college also provides Adult Basic Education instruction,
GED tutoring and testing, English as a Second Language
and literacy instruction.
There are not “typical”
students at KPC. All ages, educational backgrounds
and ethnicities are represented. Kenai Peninsula College
is a division of the University of Alaska Anchorage
fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of
the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.
